During the last 10 weeks, I have learned a lot about writing and research, but the most transformative learning experience I had was the use of social media in this class. Before WR39C, I thought of Twitter as a waste of time, but now I have realized that it is a gold mine of information, waiting to be unearthed. Twitter is indeed a lot more than a collection of hot gossip.
Another transformative learning experience I had was learning how animals are not beneath us humans. As Prof. Peter Singer said, that the value of a life should be compared by how much pain the animal feels, and there is no proof that animals feel less pain than humans, there is no proof that a human life is more precious than an animal life.
Writing was never a strong hold of mine, but during this particular class, I realized that writing is not all about English, but it is rather about being able to convey your thoughts and arguments. The two weaknesses I believe I have encountered during this class are:
1.) Time Issues: I found writing to be very time consuming, and because I had other classes as well, I had to leave a few assignments so as to study for the other classes.
2.) Research Issues: I found it hard to find sources that met my requirements. Especially for the Big Three, it was very difficult to find sources which were related to each other.
In the future I believe that the experience from this class will help me do well in research. I hope that next time I have to do something like this, I would find it to be a lot easier. The time management issue is a lot more serious, and so I shall try making a time table for my entire day and stick to it. I think that with my hard work, I shall be able to solve these issues in this future.
